Where?

Charlevoix

the Beautiful!

(legit that’s what they call it on the signs)

historic!

gorgeous!

a little Trumpy!

  • Nearest airports: Traverse City (TVC, an hour south), Pellston (PLN, an hour north), and Grand Rapids (GRR, 3 hours south)
  • Renting a car isn’t a bad idea if you want to explore the area (town isn’t walkable from the property).

  • Cabs are also available from TVC or PLN.
  • Send us your flight and we’ll let you know if carpools are an option.

  • The drive from DTW is 4ish hours and pretty easy.

Weekend

Itinerary

where it’s alllllll

gonna happen

  • Thursday night (5-8pm) - gather at Castle Farms for drinks and snacks
  • Friday day - CVX exploration, recs below!
  • Friday night (6-8pm) - beers and pizza at Bier’s Inwood Brewery

  • Saturday day - lake hangs, tennis matches, and lawn games on the property
  • Saturday night - (brief!) ceremony, dinner, toasts, dancing on the property

  • Sunday morning - quick breakfast on the way out of town

Kids or nah?

Sure! Kids are welcome to join all weekend, except ceremony + dinner Saturday. We’re working on lining up babysitters, let us know if you need this please.

Where will we sleep?

We’ve reserved some reasonably-priced Airbnbs close to the house, so if you’re interested in a spot in one of them, please let us know. Otherwise, there are hotels and airbnbs/vrbos in town, and we’re of course happy to advise on location. However, they do book up quickly, so best to lock them down asap.

Dress code?

Nothing would make us (Jocey) happier than if everyone wore Crocs all weekend—everything is pretty casual except Saturday night, which is Charlevoix Chic (whatever makes you feel hot and also comfortable line dancing).

For the rest of the weekend, pack for swimming, tennis, lawn games (performance Can Jam attire?), and walking in the woods. Also, it gets cold at night.

Gifts?

No thanks! Your paying to attend our wedding is enough. But if you’re itching to give, please consider donating in our names (attn: SOCEY) to Give Well’s Maximum Impact Fund, The Elysian Theater, or the Trust for Public Land.

Things to do in the area

  • Town of Charlevoix - Lots of cute stores and places to eat. Check out Jocey’s cousin Samie’s store, Bloom!
  • The Mushroom Houses - Self guided tour of CVX’s most famous architecture, houses inspired by mushrooms! (Magic mushrooms not included.)
  • The Landing - Go-to lakeside haunt for casual food and drinks
  • Fisherman’s Island State Park - Beach on Lake Michigan (beautiful sunsets), about ten minutes from the house
  • Castle Farms - Joc’s family’s farm from way back, the nicest dairy barn you’ll ever see. They give tours if you’re curious, and have good kids activities
  • Ye Nyne Olde Holles - Nine hole golf course with nice views, good sandwiches, and zero golf experience (or attire) required
  • Belvedere Golf Club - For actual golfers, this course is not to be missed. Also where Jocey was a (not great, if we’re honest) waitress in high school
  • The Charlevoix Library - Great kids section and play area
  • The Dairy Grille - A former Dairy Queen that went rogue and has a world renowned olive burger
  • Family Farm and Home - Premiere shopping destination, pick up some baby chicks as a souvenir
  • Lavender Hill Farm - Pretty farm and shop across the lake, good for kids too
  • Traverse City is about an hour away, but def worth exploring if you have an extra day
